Boing Boing on the Futurliner

The kids over at BoingBoing have some interesting facts about the Barrett-Jackson-wowing Futurliner that we didn’t know. Of twelve originally constructed for GM’s shows, the first of the big buses was built in 1940. The internal displays included everything from cutaway jet engines to the latest and most fab-tastic in household appliances. Interestingly, for such a huge vehicle (33 feet long), they were powered by a relatively small engine: a GMC 302-cube inline six, which most likely means that a Microbus with bad compression could take it in a drag race.
